Course Reserves

During any given semester, course materials can be made available in a number of different ways.

Electronic Reserves via Sakai

http://pacific.rsmart.com.

Materials such as articles, audio files, chapters, class notes, powerpoint presentations, solutions, syllabi, and Word documents may be made available through individual Sakai course sites. The best e-reserves are less than 1.0 MB in size. E-Reserves items may be submitted as a fax, on disks, CD-Rs, photocopies, or as email attachments. If a reading is available online, a citation is sufficient. Instructors are responsible for copyright compliance.

How to place items on electronic reserve: Faculty are encouraged to upload materials themselves to Sakai at http://pacific.rsmart.com. Library staff will gladly accept course reserves and upload them on your behalf. In all cases, Faculty are responsible for copyright compliance regarding their uploaded materials. For more information about submitting e-reserve material through the library, contact library@pacific.edu

Print Reserves and Physical Media

Faculty may place books, papers, video recordings, sound recordings, music scores, and other materials on reserve at Main Library Circulation or Health Sciences Branch. A reserve form must accompany any request for items to be put on reserve. Download the reserve form.

  • Pacific Library Books: Reserve staff will collect circulating books from Pacific Library branches.
  • Personal copies: Instructors' personal copies of books may be placed on reserve at the owner's risk. If not retrieved at the end of the semester, personal copies will be returned via campus mail.
  • Media Materials: Videotapes, DVDs, slides, and audio recordings can be placed on reserve. Please contact the Main Library Circulation for more information.
