Do not use works by Coyle, Ward, or Trager as per Professor Albala's syllabus.

Articles

In addition to Academic Search Complete, try the following:

  • History and Life: Indexes and abstracts periodical articles and dissertations in the field of North American history, prehistory, and culture.
  • Historical Abstracts: Indexes and abstracts periodical literature and dissertations on world history (excluding the U.S. and Canada) from 1450 to the present.
  • JSTOR: Full-text archive of scholarly journals in electronic format, digitized from the first issue onward to a "moving wall" of two to seven years ago.  
  • Project Muse: Provides access to the full text of over 100 scholarly journals in the arts and humanities, social sciences and mathematics. Coverage varies for each journal. 
  • SocINDEX : Identifies articles on a wide variety of sociological topics, including those related to food and food habits. Good amount of full text. 
  • ScienceDirect : Identifies articles on a wide variety of science-related topics. Particularly useful for articles related to the scientific aspects of nutrition and food consumption. Good amount of full text.
